Original CFD Firehouse Dedication Ceremony
June 11, 2021 @ 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Mr. Stanley Larson, a long time business owner in the City of Cedarburg, and owner of the building located at W63 N658 Washington Avenue in Cedarburg, would like to invite residents of Ozaukee County and anyone interested in WI history to a building dedication ceremony. A group of Cedarburg pioneers organized the Cedarburg Fire Department in the fall of 1866. Mr. Larson’s building has been identified as the first firehouse constructed and paid for by its members. Other community residents, carpenters and masons also donated much time in the building of the structure. The first meeting of the fire department took place at this building on June 11, 1867.
Mr. Larson would like to recognize the volunteer members for all of their work in protecting our community. A customized plaque, ordered by Mr. Larson, will be mounted to the building and unveiled Friday evening June 11th, which is exactly 154 years to the date of that original meeting. Mr. Larson will also be presenting a check for $500 to the department, the original price paid for the property. Washington Avenue will be shut down for a short period of time that night between Bridge Road and Turner Street to accommodate the ceremony. Everyone is welcome to attend.
